Meet the People
We are all very different, but what unites us is Jesus! For all of us, He has changed our lives in ways beyond our imagination. Read on for some of our stories.
Matt
The miraculous power of Jesus has been part of Matt's life from an early age:
"I am originally a Catford boy who moved to Bexley in the early 90s. Whilst I was growing up, I experienced God's healing power. My mum suffered a cardiac arrest and her heart stopped for over 30 minutes leading to brain damage, loss of speech and loss of physical movement. She was fed by tubes and unable to communicate. The doctors said there was no more they could do for her but as people prayed God miraculously healed her and restored her brain, body and speech.

I originally trained as a musician and then had a career in technology and project management for 25 years where I learned lots of cool and some boring stuff. These days I'm is a pastor which means I works full time telling people about Jesus and helping them grow in their faith. You can meet me at the cafe most weeks, and hear more about my story."
Del
Del's life didn't go as he had planned, but Jesus still had a plan for him:
"30 years ago I lost a little boy in a cot death. I needed some answers, why did God take my boy? Is there a God out there? I thought it was because I was a bad man. Maybe it was my punishment! I thought it was my drug taking and my violent life being paid back. Back in a prison cell again, I was woken up with the words "GO AND FIND YOUR FATHER". I went looking for my heavenly father and I prayed that God would free me. And He did!! I now feel God's love in my life every day. Amen!"
Jon
Jon thought he didn't need God in his life, but later he discoverd Jesus was what he was missing:
"I attended Sunday School with my brothers as a child and cherished my first Bible. I met Glenda in 1976 and we married at North Heath Baptist Church in 1977. The lovely Vicar, Fred Butler, asked us if we wanted to become Christians, but we thought it unnecessary. Two years later we heard evangelist George Miller at Welling Pentecostal church and we understood about giving our hearts to the Lord and were filled with the Holy Spirit. I've had 3 near death experiences; once when I was in the Merchant Navy, I fell down a stairwell and I thought I had died; another time I dived off the ship onto a massive shark and survived; then I fell through a barn floor onto concrete and broke my back, above me I saw an angel as I fell. I knew God had saved me yet again! So my time here
has not finished. Praise the Lord!"
Jennie
When Jennie was at her lowest, Jesus was there to rescue and restore her:
"A broken marriage, threat of losing my children and my home, I attempted suicide. But God saved my life in the worst situation, from death, darkness and despair. The Lord turned my situation around, gave me an interest free mortgage at £30 weekly repayments, (today I am mortgage free), and I have a lot to be grateful to God for my children and grandchildren. I need to be a Christian for peace, salvation and everlasting life -even after death to be with God. I heard the Word from 4 years old. I always sought God, especially in times of trouble. God has answered many prayers, not always in the way I wanted but always the best way. God has even healed the hurt from my ex-husband and enabled me to forgive. This is a great thing and only comes from God. I never thought I would see these days but God went before me."
Del
Del was far away from God, but Jesus was suprisingly close to him:
"I met my wife when I was working in show business. We fell in love and married back in the late 70’s. We experienced great success and then our careers and health took a nosedive – I turned to alcohol, the occult and spiritualism which offered no hope and made things much worse. Plagued by health and work issues, we both got sick and our marriage broke down. Desperate and broken, we called out to God - if He existed. We were invited to a healing meeting at a local Church there we received Jesus Christ and His love into our hearts and our healing and restoration began quite miraculously. Since then, we have enjoyed ministering together and this year celebrate 44 years of marriage."
